VIRTUAL CARE

Telemedicine are video-based and phone-based consultations as alternatives to in-office appointment. Our clinic offers virtual care to care for patients safely and effectively. It is also time-saving and convenient alternative for some patients. This means that we will be using video and audio technologies for some patient visits rather than asking all patients to come into our office. eVisits connect you to your doctor from home or work on your own device. There is no cost to OHIP patients. eVisits provide the same level of care as you would expect with an in-office visit. You can find out more about virtual care here.

Just like online shopping or email, virtual care has some inherent privacy and security risks that your health information may be intercepted or unintentionally disclosed. We want to make sure you understand this before we proceed. In order to improve privacy and confidentiality, you should also take steps to participate in this virtual care encounter in a private setting and should not use an employer’s or someone else’s computer/device as they may be able to access your information. If it is determined you require a physical exam you may still need to be assessed in person.

 

Virtual care is not a substitute for attending the Emergency Department if urgent care is needed.

We currently use Zoom platform to conduct our eVisits. Please note that even if the visit is virtual, you must be in Ontario at the time of the appointment. If you are out of town, please contact the office to reschedule your appointment. For patient safety and confidentiality, you must also update your Zoom log-in name to correspond with that of your healthcard so we can confirm you identity. Please be prepared to show your healthcard at your appointment.
